At CRV, we're proud to be at the forefront of the dairy industry. As a global leader in herd improvement with operations across Europe, North and South America, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand, our mission is simple: to help dairy farmers build healthy, efficient herds through genetics and expert support.
We partner with farmers to provide genetic tools and insights that help them meet their unique goals. As we grow our presence across New Zealand, we're investing in people who share our passion for the industry and want to help support farmers through the season.
Job Description
About the Role
CRV is looking for a self-motivated, farmer-focused professional to cover a period of parental leave in our Northern & Eastern Southland region, from August 2026 to February 2027. This period covers calving and the start of mating, so the role will be weighted toward servicing and delivery, supporting an established customer base through a critical time on-farm, rather than new business development. Some top-up selling will still be expected where opportunities arise.
You'll step into a strong existing customer base built by the current Sales Consultant, maintaining those relationships and ensuring farmers continue to receive the support and results they expect from CRV. You'll be backed by a global network of experts, along with the support of your regional and national team.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys on-farm work and building trust with farmers, and who is comfortable stepping into a running programme rather than starting one from scratch.
Key Responsibilities
Service and support: Maintain and strengthen relationships with an established farmer base across Northern & Eastern Southland during calving and mating.
On-farm delivery: Support farmers in implementing breeding plans already in place and help resolve day-to-day queries as they arise.
Top-up selling: Identify and follow up on incremental sales opportunities within the existing customer base as they come up.
Collaboration: Work alongside AB technicians and the wider regional team to ensure a smooth, well-supported season for farmers.
Customer experience: Ensure farmers continue to receive a consistent, high-quality experience from CRV throughout the cover period.
Location
The sales territory for this role is Northern & Eastern Southland, so ideally the successful candidate would be located in a central position to service these areas.
What We Offer
Fixed-term certainty: A clearly scoped 7-month contract from August 2026 to February 2027, covering parental leave.
Competitive package: Salary plus performance-based incentives for top-up sales achieved.
Perks: Company vehicle (with reasonable personal use)
Work-life balance: 37.5-hour work week with flexible hours
Support: A fun and supportive team environment, with training and handover support to help you get up to speed quickly
Desired Skills and Experience
About You
You'll bring genuine interest in the NZ dairy industry and a real willingness to support farmers through a busy part of the season. A solid understanding of the NZ dairy sector, including seasonal cycles such as calving and mating, is important. Hands-on dairy farming, animal breeding or genetics experience is a plus, but a curious mindset and willingness to learn matter more.
You'll also demonstrate:
A service-first mindset, with the confidence to also identify and follow up on top-up sales opportunities
Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to quickly earn trust with an existing customer base
Strong self-management and the discipline to run your territory effectively over a defined period
Proficiency in digital tools and attention to administrative detail
Experience in rural sales, farm advisory, or dairy support roles is highly desirable
If you're a driven, farmer-focused professional who enjoys on-farm work and wants to support Southland farmers through calving and mating, we'd love to hear from you.
Applicants for this position must be eligible to work in NZ.
