Job Description
About the Role
CRV is seeking a reliable, motivated individual to join our Herd Testing team as a Herd Test Technician for a fixed term position over the 2026/27 season (September 2026 – May 2027) covering the Winton / Southland area.
As a Herd Test Technician you will work on dairy farms setting up herd testing equipment, collecting milk samples during milking, and accurately recording herd data using electronic systems.
Because work is tied to the dairy season, some weeks are full-on, others quieter, and no two weeks look the same. We're looking for someone flexible who can flow with the demand, can adapt their schedule to match and enjoys a role that keeps things interesting rather than following the same routine every day.
Work is carried out around milking times and during seasonal demand, with early starts, travelling, and overnight stays away from home.

Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with farmers
Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
Comfortable working around livestock and in dairy shed environments
Flexibility to work varying hours, including early mornings and seasonal peaks
Willingness to travel and stay away from home when required
