Job Description
About the Role
CRV is seeking reliable, motivated individual to join our Herd Testing team for the 2026/27 season. (October 2026 – May 2027)
As a Herd Test Technician, you will work on dairy farms setting up herd testing equipment, collecting milk samples during milking, and accurately recording herd data using electronic systems.
Because work is tied to the dairy season, some weeks are full-on, others quieter, and no two weeks look the same. We're looking for someone flexible who can flow with the demand, can adapt their schedule to match and enjoys a role that keeps things interesting rather than following the same routine every day.
Work is carried out around milking times and during seasonal demand, with early starts, travelling, and occasional overnight stays away from home.
This role plays an important part in supporting dairy farmers by collecting accurate herd performance data used for herd management and breeding decisions.
Location
We are looking for someone based in the Greymouth area. You will be responsible for the Greymouth / Westcoast area as well as covering the Canterbury and Upper South Island runs involving significant travel.
Desired Skills and Experience
About You
To be successful in this role you will need:
Full, clean driver's licence

High attention to detail and accuracy in data recording
Confidence using technology and mobile data systems
Professional, reliable, and self-motivated approach
Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with farmers
Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
Comfortable working around livestock and in dairy shed environments
Flexibility to work varying hours, including early mornings and seasonal peaks
Willingness to travel and stay away from home when required
What We Offer
CRV vehicle provided for work purposes
Full training and ongoing support
Supportive team environment
Opportunity to work within New Zealand's dairy industry
If you enjoy working outdoors, are highly organised, and can work independently while delivering accurate results, we'd love to hear from you.

All applicants for this position must be eligible to work in NZ.
